When Amsterdam becomes suffocating, Utrecht is a well deserved escape. We jumped in the train, and 30 minutes later we were indulging into Greek dishes at a taverna on the Oudegracht, watching the boats – and the ducks – passing by our table.
After lunch we walked along the less developed – less shops and restaurants, more peace and beauty – part of the same canal. There we could sit right by the water, a beer in hand, disconnect, and let the world pass by. Boats and anything able to float and propel itself were parading on the water, one after the other, as everyone was celebrating the hot, summer weather the country has ben blessed with lately.
