My sister visited this past weekend, so we spent most of the time outside, trying to squeeze in as many things as possible, yet leaving enough time for simply relaxing.
Saturday was dedicated entirely to the East and South of Amsterdam, with the intention of spending the following day in West and North.
Here is what you can do on a common Saturday in Oost and Zuid!
The day started with a delicious brunch at Drover’s Dog, the location on Eerste Atjehstraat, in Amsterdam East:
We continued in the East with a walk along the nearby Javastraat, in the Indische Buurt, from time to time stopping to gaze inside the various, eye-catching shops, bars, cafés, and ice cream parlours:
We left the most vibrant street in Amsterdam East, Javastraat, to go to the most vibrant neighbourhood in the entire Amsterdam, De Pijp. Here, we wandered its cosy streets, entered all sorts of boutique shops (including my favourite of them all, ANNA+NINA), passed by the Albert Cuypmarkt (too crowded to visit), and the inviting C • T Coffee & Coconuts:
When the weather got moody, we decided to go for a movie at one of my favourite cinemas in Amsterdam, Cinecenter. With a warm caffè latte in our hands, we watched Love & Friendship, a movie chosen by both my sister and my boyfriend (Strike a Pose would have been my choice):
Once the movie was over, we were ready for dinner. For this, we headed back to Amsterdam East, at one of my favourite Asian restaurants in the city, the newly open Vijf Nul Vijf:
(to be continued with Sunday’s adventures)
