Yesterday`s brunch at Bennys & Marys, in the pleasant company of Amsterdamian and Awesome Amsterdam, has been a very nice experience from all aspects that I can think of.
Just imagine enjoying a tasty brunch in the elegant atmosphere of a restaurant – De Gouden Reael – located in one of the most beautiful yet peaceful places in Amsterdam: the Prinseneiland. This is quite a special experience!
As the name suggests, there are plenty of “Bennys” (Eggs Benedict) and “Marys” (as in Bloody Mary) to choose from at Bennys & Marys. In fact, the menu is so generous that one might find it difficult to make a choice! To me, this simply means I have to come back again and try something different on each occasion. 🙂
Surrounded by light and with a nice view towards the water, we indulged ourselves in some Champagne rosewater waffles served with compote and cream, and some Spanish Baked Eggs on top of potatoes, peppers and other vegetables coming straight from the oven. The crispy kale was a nice surprise, we simply loved it!
Such a treat almost begs for a cocktail. We chose the Tarragon Gin Lemonade (with elderflower and lemon) and also tried the Sorrel (hibiscus, rum, ginger, lime). No wonder our brunch lasted for hours!

It`s a cute name, I agree! At first, I found it a bit hard to pronounce, but when I realized what it was actually standing for, I could say it very well. 🙂 They have very good food, too!
