The first thing I saw this morning when opening the windows was a duck making small waves on the water’s surface as it crossed the canal. The rest was still. Now and then a bike was passing by. Although early, it felt warm and the air smelled like wet land, reminding me of the beautiful and peaceful mornings in the Danube Delta. These mornings are even better when they follow a long night out, when nobody wants to go home. I must say Amsterdam has been quite unrecognizable in the past few days since summer took over. The warm and extremely enjoyable weather keeps people on the street until late at night, the women can finally wear dresses and the overall pace has slowed down. I just love these summer moments and the calm they bring! The relaxed atmosphere allows me to reflect and contemplate. The things I want are more clear and everything I like seems even more beautiful, completely absorbing me.
