I must have been damn right when I said this city has never disappointed me.
Yesterday, on Christmas day, I realized it`s not easy to be away from family in a time when almost all people are close to theirs. And, with this bad feeling, I got myself in the tram taking me to my friends` place, where I was invited for a Christmas dinner.
But then there was this lady in the tram, the one who sells tickets, singing jingle bells and other Christmas carols – she had one song for each stop and, when the tram reached the final station, she even wished us all the best, which made people very happy and grateful towards her – , some other people in front of bars and cafes were carrying plates with cookies in their hands and almost begged me to take one (which I did, of course) and then it was that guy riding his bike and dressed up like a Christmas tree, half red, half green…
Well, all these made me smile and, despite the total lack of snow and the bad feeling of being away from my family everything seamed very beautiful and Christmas-y to me all of a sudden.
Thank you, Amsterdam! This is for you:
