The delicate geography of the Netherlands, with water channelled all throughout the country, makes for Dutch cities to look pretty much alike. Because where there is water, there are canals, bridges, and canal houses.
Yet I dare say Delft is special, its tranquility so high that it allows for nature to take over. Such abundance of water lilies floating on canals I’ve only seen in the Danube Delta – and that is a very remote and wild place (in Romania). To experience this in Delft was both a surprise and a reason to like the city even more.
Thanks to Nancy for being such a good guide and to this song for keeping my mood high on the route Amsterdam-Delft and back! 🙂
