Copenhagen was love at first sight. Visiting Christianshavn right on the first day in the city has a lot to do with it.
It was Saturday, weather was good. By the waterfront, people were having picnics, some were swimming. A guy was playing the guitar surrounded by friends, most probably celebrating someone’s birthday. It was a good energy, that relaxing Northern European vibe when people enjoy life in the most unpretentious kind of way.
We walked through former warehouses and factories turned into residencies, on cobblestone streets where we gazed at colourful old facades, all the way to the so called Papirøen (Paper Island). If the city looked rather quiet, it was because everybody seemed to have come to this particular island, at the Copenhagen Street Food – including us. We were spoiled for choice, so we indulged into a copious lunch there, followed by coffee and cake at 108 – The Corner.
Did we like Christainshaven? We loved it.
