Hard to believe it was snowing last weekend when we met Michelle and German for brunch. We had planned this before the weather went crazy, as we were really looking forward to meeting baby Dylan for the first time.
We chose Benji’s, on the Wibautstraat, as it’s relatively close to where we all live. Besides, this street, for long considered Amsterdam’s ugliest, has been through so much transformation lately, that I was particularly curious to go there again. Not to mention I’ve seen so many photos of Benji’s on Instagram, with its concrete walls, spiral staircase, and plants all over the place.
Benji’s brings together various dishes from different places in the world and it’s a nice place to be for breakfast, lunch, or to simply enjoy a cup of coffee. We had avocado and egg sandwich, tuna sandwich, tomato soup, while German went for the Benji’s special – the Benjamin – an Indonesian dish. We ended with yet another cup of coffee and a carrot plus pistachio cake.
Baby Dylan, who slept or sticked to his bottle of milk the whole time, seemed very pleased to be there as well. 🙂
