What I like most about Monks, besides the tasty coffee they prepare here, is the generous interior. At their shop on Bilderdijkstraat, in Amsterdam West, you don’t need to squeeze in and you don’t need to take your coffee on the go. You can actually find a seat where to enjoy your drink at your own pace, in a spacious and filled with light interior.
We must have spent a couple of hours there this past Sunday, when we met Dani and Bianca for coffee. It was our first time there, but we trusted them when they suggested we meet at Monks. If you follow Dani on his blog The Chill Bean you know that he is taking coffee very seriously, and that he is passionate about sharing his findings with his readers. And Monks has got a nice comprehensive review on his blog already.
Here are some photos I managed to take in between a cortado and a green tea, in a most festive atmosphere. The cake you see on our table, cozonac, is a traditional Romanian dessert prepared around the big holidays of the year, and was a gift from Dani and Bianca for us. Not available at Monks just yet! 🙂
