One of the joys of winter is waking up in the morning to see everything is covered in snow. Even if it’s just a tiny bit of it.
The winter these photos are taken, almost two years ago, we were living in a house overlooking a quaint, picturesque canal in Amsterdam’s old centre – the Krom Boomssloot. When we woke up to see the snow, we knew we had to go out and take some photos right away.
So we walked in the neighbourhood on that early Saturday morning, happy that people were still sleeping, or just staying warm in their homes. The city was ours – or so it felt.
By the time we finished our little tour, the market stalls were installed in the Nieuwmarkt square, so we stopped to get flowers, fresh croissants, bread, cheese, and fruits.
We were frozen when we got back home, but it was all worth it. We made coffee and had breakfast, and now we have these photos to look at and remember that beautiful day.
