Not just for today and definitely not occasionally. I miss you in general and sometimes without even being aware of this.
Missing you has become a state of mind, something I carry with me no matter where I go and no matter what I do. And, strangely enough, this somehow makes me stronger.
Like I said to a dear friend, being away from you is not like being away from something average or replaceable, something you`re better of without. It`s quite the opposite.
The distance between us is not creating an illusion of how amazing and unique you are among all other places in the world; it simply makes the truth appear more clearly.
You surely mean different things for different people, but here is what you mean to me and what I miss the most about you!
Your PEOPLE, young and elderly, living in cities or in your most isolated villages, kind or less kind, but never fake and never boring, always with a story to tell:
Your natural LANDSCAPE, of a simple yet astounding beauty:
Your hot SUMMERS, unrivalled in beauty, wildness and sensuality:
Your FLOWERS and their scents, that can always bring me all the way back in time:
Your rich and colourful AUTUMNS:
Your SLOW PACE OF LIVING, which Romanians call “tihna”, as opposed to the overly scheduled and efficiency driven lifestyle:
Your RURAL BLESSINGS, that make time stand still and bring us back to the essence of life:
Your capital & my hometown, BUCHAREST, so lively, surprising and inspiring:
Your little piece of heaven called the DANUBE DELTA, my favourite place in the world:
Your ROADS, maybe not always in the best condition, but certainly leading me to those destinations I love and miss the most:
Your mouth-watering FOOD, prepared from fresh ingredients and with love:
Your PECULIARITIES, which make you so special and can always put a smile on my face:
Your beautiful LANGUAGE (“grai”), equalled maybe only by French 🙂
I more and more realise that being away from you is actually being away from me.

Cat de frumoase sunt pozele! 😉 Ah, salcamii, nucile si crizantemele trecute-n prispa! 😉 Si chestia cu televizorul pe post de dulap e mortala! 😉
Da, multe nostalgii in postarea asta! 😊
I won\’t pretend to speak Romanian, but I can certainly understand a lot of what you have written and the signs. I studied Dialectology in Italian, and some of the northeastern dialects do seem to resemble Romanian as they are also Romance languages with a Slavic (and Germanic) influence from their neighbours. Hmm, don\’t forget Italian (and its many dialects) as a beautiful Romance language.
You must miss the flavourful produce terribly – I have actually managed to find some decent vegetables and fruits at organic markets in Amsterdam, but the supermarket produce, while \”perfect\” and extremely varied, is fairly insipid, and even the \”real\” vegetables from Turkey and the Balkans on Javastraat and Dappermarkt have travelled too far. Romania also makes great \”country\” wine… I\’m used to peasant wine from Italy; not necessarily fine wine, but \”real\” somehow.
I was glad to see a bicycle path. You must also miss those beautiful hills.
