Mazzo is already an establishment in Amsterdam`s Jordaan neighbourhood.
Coveniently located on the Rozengracht, this Italian restaurant is so popular, you`d better make a reservation before heading there for dinner.
We went for the first time last month, while my boyfriend`s parents were visiting. Once there, the first thing we asked ourselves was why (oh why) we had waited for so long to do that.
I am a big fan of well lit restaurants and by this I mean having just enough light as to create a cosy atmosphere. Anything more than that and I feel like I am in an office. Not only does Mazzo understand the need for a cosy, intimate interior, it also knows what matters most in a restaurant: the food and the wine.
We were four at our table and each of us had a different Italian dish: lasagna for my boyfriend`s father, pasta for his mother, risotto for himself and, what else, a pizza for me! While my boyfriend was not particularly overwhelmed by the risotto, the rest of us were really happy with our choices. My pizza had a thin crust (just the way I like it) and tasted really nice.
The wine we chose was so good, that I had to take a photo of its label, so that I know what to ask for the next time.
A delicious tiramisu to put an end to this treat and off we went!
