Six months ago, Nico left Paris to move to Amsterdam. However, it looks like Paris has never left her. “Ça vaaa!…” is her favourite answer and, funny enough, it always seems to do the trick!
She is also one of those people who make magic in the kitchen in the most efortless and fascinating way. By the time your first glass of wine is over, dinner is ready, steaming fresh out of the oven.
“I don`t know how you do it!”, I tell her as I take another sip and stare at her quiche-in-the-making.
“Cooking relaxes me. I love it!“, she replies as she throws a sliced courgette into the tray.
“Well, it absolutely stresses me out!“, I conclude. I then take a photo of her cooking and send it to my boyfriend.
“Are you learning something? 🙂“, he writes back…
No wonder that when she invited me for brunch, soon after this dinner experience, my answer was YES!
And I have to say that she completely spoiled me on this occasion as well: yoghurt with oatmeal, mango, blackberries, honey and cinnamon, coffee with milk and cream (as opposite as possible from my daily black) and – the cherry on the cake – fried eggs on top of avocado, salmon and cream cheese, with a sprinkle of dill. It really was delicious!
Thanks, Nico, for this amazing brunch and for letting me take photos of your current home in Amsterdam – all while you were cooking for me so dearly! 🙂
P.S. The cat`s name is Matisse.
