July is my favourite month of the year. It`s the peak of Summer and it`s also when I was born.
We are usually off for Summer holiday in July, but things have been a bit different this year. For a good reason. 🙂
I cannot however complain of spending July entirely in Amsterdam. The weather has been wonderful (with few exceptions) and the city seemed more airy with schools closed and Amsterdammers away traveling.
Here are some highlights of this past month:
– Spending some lovely Summer evenings in the Eastern Docklands, more precisely on the terrace at Puerto Pata Negra – my favourite place in Amsterdam to have tapas and drink sangria while sitting by the water and looking towards the Java Eiland;
– Meeting friends for drinks in a place we normally avoid because of the crowds: the center of Amsterdam. This Summer night reminded me just how incredibly romantic Amsterdam can be;
– Lazy evenings in the park, picnicking on the grass, enjoying the best of this Dutch Summer;
As you can see, July has been all about celebrating Summer and spending time with friends, two activities I can never get enough of!
