“Staying home is the new going out” – I like this statement and I believe it`s true. Visiting friends at their place comes in the same package.
It`s been really nice to start this weekend at Kate & Maxim`s apartment in Amsterdam`s Eastern Docklands – my absolute favourite area in the whole city!
Spinning records to create unexpected musical trips and mixing ingredients to obtain the perfect Gin & Tonic cocktails were the main activities of our Friday night gathering. And we were more than pleased to perform them, especially as we were celebrating Kate`s birthday.
A house where the music reigns is always a magic place and this is definitely the case of Kate & Maxim`s home. I particularily love the disco ball – “the only object I took with me whenever moving”, as Kate shared with me. To say that it goes perfectly well with Maxim`s music records and books is simply redundant. 🙂
Looking out of the window and seeing all that space surrounding us (the Eastern Docklands are the exact opposite of Amsterdam`s typical cramped neighbourhoos such as Jordaan or De Pijp) and the trains going in and out of nearby Amsterdam Central Station was a special feeling, one you don`t always get when living the more “suffocating” parts of the city.
And now, the photos:
