When in the mood for a nice sunny breakfast elsewhere than in your own balcony – like Amsterdammers do in Summer – head over to Café-Restaurant De Plantage and expect a very special treat.
Their terrace is more than generous and feels like an oasis in the heart of the city. As it is located nearby the Hortus Botanicus (the botanical garden), the scenery is enchanting: the plants and the trees, the little pond with pink flamingoes… I even like the pastel green chairs, which remind me of Parisian parks.
The Artis (Amsterdam`s zoo) is also just around the corner, so it is really pleasant to have your bowl of cereals while listening to the song of the rooster, always bringing up sweet memories from those carefree Summers of childhood.
Besides this beautiful ambiance – unique in Amsterdam – the café itself stands out through some very good quality service and absolutely delicious food, served in generous amounts and – surprisingly – it does not cost a fortune either! I have been here for both breakfast and dinner and enjoyed each of the experiences.

Wow! Looks lovely! We have a nice café in Oslo Botanical Garden, too, not as impressing, though. And minus the flamingos. 😉 hihi!
