Cruising on a boat along Amsterdam`s beautiful canals is one of the most pleasurable things to do in the city. Add some friends, cocktails and a fair amount of sunshine and it starts to sound like happiness to me!
The fun part was that none of us were experienced in maneuvering a boat, so there was some adrenaline involved as well, at the beginning of our four hour journey. Especially when a plastic bag got stuck in the propeller and the boat stopped right in the middle of Prinsengracht, in one of its busiest parts.
So there we were, motionless, in front of Anne Frank’s house, a Dutch, a British, two Romanians, a South African and an American! Needless to say the Dutch quickly reacted and the bag was removed in a couple of minutes. Right when I started to throw the rope aimlessly, I guess trying to somehow pull the boat aside. Those survival instincts… 🙂
Apart from the colorful and spectacular Jordaan, we`ve been in the old center (where some of the narrowest and cosiest canals are to be found), Amstel and, of course, to our favourite areas in the city: Entrepotdok and Prinseneiland.
Here are the photos taken in between G&Ts and other treats! Enjoy.
