If you liked the first part of this series, chances are you`re also interested to see what my second year in Amsterdam looked like. Just like the previous post, this one also focuses on my mood and surroundings at that time rather than on the city itself.
Long stort short, 2011 was a year of high and low, in which the low prevailed.
Good things happened in the first part of it: progressing with the Dutch language, feeling more settled in, starting my blog Amsterdamming, getting a job that was making me happy, making new friends.
The last part of the year, however, was marked by the separation between my partner and I.
Literally on my own – for the first time in my life – the city was my only comfort and so we started to develop a real bond.
Some memories dating from back then which I am most fond of are my long, thoughtful walks down the streets of Amsterdam and waking up late on Saturday mornings, in my loft, with the sun on my face and with absolutely no plans for the day.
Winter sky on a cold February evening:
My daily trip to the supermarket sometimes ended with me buying flowers as well:
Evenings of May:
Going to the market on a Saturday morning and returning home with fresh pastries, fruits and flowers:
End of Summer (and of relationship):
Making an album out of some photos I had recently taken during a trip to Romania:
Blogging on Amsterdamming:
Cosy evening in my loft:
Waking up late to a beautiful sunny day and most probably feeling happy that it was weekend:
A foggy evening as seen from my window:
Evening activities: music, thinking, writing, blogging, photos. And a glass of wine, of course!
Decorations in my loft – prints:
Night falling over the Antillenstraat:
Waking up to a new day (and to a new pack of cigarettes – awful, I know!):
Sometimes I was in the mood to prepare myself some breakfast and eat it on my Madonna customized table:
A corner of my living-room:
“Healthy” habbits – just as mentioned above – on my newly painted table:
A comforting cappuccino in my neighbourhood:
Rain at my window:
A red lamp was keeping me company:
Microwave popcorn – another “healty” habbit back in the days:
Christmas getting closer:
Thoughts for the new year as well as for the ending one:
Colors of my loft in Winter time:
“May all your wishes come true!”
2011 is a year I will always remember.
