When it rains, a lot of time is spent indoors. Which is a pity, especially on a Saturday in October, when the beautiful colours of Autumn are to be seen all over the city!
So, in spite of the rain, we went out for a walk and, as surprising as it may seem, we did not return home until late at night. Because there is plenty to do in Amsterdam even on a rainy day!
Our day started at Bloem, on the Entrepotdok, with a delicious (and 100% organic) brunch. The place was quiet on this occasion. We remembered those early Spring afternoons when, exactly in this same place, we could barely find a table outside on the terrace, to sip our drinks in the sun.
Our day continued with a walk on the 9Streets (too crowded to take any photos!) and the afternoon found us at Cinecenter, the cosy cinema behind the Leidseplein.
Recently returned from Rome and still carrying a bit of dolce vita within ourselves, we decided that “The Trip to Italy” would be the perfect movie to watch on a rainy day in Amsterdam. And we were right!
By the time the movie finished, the sun was shining again on the sky of Amsterdam. It was already time for dinner, so we arrived to our restaurant in Westerstraat (meaning the one we selected for the respective evening) feeling completely hungry. The afore mentioned movie, where most of the scenes were taking place at the table, definitely contributed to this.
Cinema Paradiso, the nice Italian restaurant in the Jordaan, was a good choice not only for this anniversary dinner (my boyfriend`s birthday), but also to end an Italian themed (though rainy) day in Amsterdam!
So, once again, happy birthday Tom! I wish you the very best and, of course, may your nice photos contribute to Amsterdamming from now on as well! 🙂
