This weekend is going to be a low-profile one: instead of walking down the streets of Amsterdam with my camera, I am going to be home, relaxing and packing for a week away.
After three weeks spent here, my sister returned to Bucharest earlier today, which makes me feel nostalgic and a bit sad at the same time. Having to constantly say goodbye to family and friends is definitely the worst part of being an expat…
On our way back from Schiphol, we decided to enjoy the sun that was shining on the sky of Amsterdam, so we stopped at Mercatorplein, in Amsterdam West. We had no idea about the market there, so it has been a pleasant surprise to discover it. (Sorry, no photos, except that on Instagram!)
The next two hours were spent at cafe Zurich, in the middle of this square, where children were running through the water fountain (and their mothers after them), feeding or scaring the pigeons away and making a nice show to watch on such a peaceful sunny day! I really like to visit this part of Amsterdam from time to time, as its inhabitants are a nice mix of cultures who live in perfect harmony with each other.
Next stop was home, but not before getting some fresh flowers, bread and pastries from the market!
I wish you all a nice Saturday! 🙂
