It`s a well known fact that service in cafés, bars, restaurants etc. in Amsterdam is not one of the best – to say it mildly.
So, when it happens to find myself in a place where the staff actually knows what`s going on in there, what the items on the menu stand for and can even tell you the story of a specific wine (without you even asking for it), then you can only smile and feel that there is still hope! You can even say “wow” when no one`s hearing.
This has always been the case at Screaming Beans on Eerste Constantijn Huygensstraat in Amsterdam`s Oud-West. It is indeed a real pleasure to spend a Saturday afternoon on their terrace, sipping from a tasty wine and simply enjoying it. Not to mention their coffee is one of the best in the city!
This particular location of Screaming Beans is one of my favourites as it is on a street with nice, modern buildings – not a very common thing in Amsterdam.
In case you`re wondering, that building (with a “man” on top of a ladder) is housing a psychiatry centre. Hmmmmm…
