I can`t remember the last time I`ve been shopping in Amsterdam (nowadays I am happier to buy some coffee cups than garments anyways!) and it looks like whenever I find myself on a shopping street elsewhere all I do is take photos of people instead of actually doing some shopping myself!
Ok, ok, this is not valid for Paris, I have to admit… 🙂

I have the opposite problem. I love shopping! Although of course, there´s no shopping like in Paris! But Amsterdam was pretty cool when we visited a couple of years ago and we found great scoops in vintage stores as well as design goodies!;-) Enjoy!
For quite some time, I feel better when I don`t shop, as I can somehow prove to myself that my happiness is not related to consumerism. Better said, that I can be happy without having to buy this state. For example, dedicating my time to photography makes me totally happy and it`s free! 🙂 I`m also quite picky when it comes to shopping, so maybe that`s another reason! :))
I know what you mean. As a student I often had to make do with what I had and when I finally started working I craved the wardrobe of a secretary in the 60s. I´m slowly getting there now. But I´m so soft on silk and leather it´s just crazy! 😉
When it comes to happiness, I find it´s a way of life. I´m constantly searching for something more, something better, so I´m not there, yet. 😉 But I´m usually content.
I think I started to have a different opinion on shopping the moment I realised that, if I was alone one day and had nothing to do and no one to meet, I was almost always ending up on the shopping street. It was the only street in the city where I did not feel alone as I could just lose myself in all that frantic crowd. And because, more or less, everyone was actually alone there. Then I started to educate myself away from this and almost urged myself to find better sources of joy than on the shopping street. 🙂 Of course, it feels great when you find the perfect dress or the perfect pair of shoes when you need them, but if you need them too often, I would say something is not right.
