I have always liked to take photos of clothes drying in the sun, especially when this happens in a city. Not necessarily clothes in the sun, but also pillows, blankets etc. taking in the fresh air when displayed outside. There is something very rudimentary and reassuring about this, a mark of the simple and beautiful life that I mostly associate with the sunny Mediterranean regions.
To find out that there is actually an artist who took this even further, to the extent of creating an ongoing project based on taking photos of laundry hanging on wires all over the world – named Intimacy under the Wires – well, this is even more reassuring!
I hope you liked the works of Israeli born photographer Sivan Askayo and the idea behind this collection, which will soon be hanging on the walls of galleries.
Maybe we should suggest Sivan to take a trip to Amsterdam as well, where I must say I am still pleasantly surprised whenever seeing this Dutch display of dolce vita!
