I like Westerpark so much (not only the park, but also the residential area closeby), that I cannot think of a better destination on a warm and sunny day.
Westergasterras is always full of people when the weather is nice so, in order to get to sit on one of the fatboys near the water, you first need to be happy if you find a place to sit in the covered terrace area, then advance to the open wooden terrace (closer to the water) the moment you see someone leaving and only after that you can start to think of the possibility that someone currently laying on the fatboys might eventually get up and leave. After all, why would he/she leave?
The rest of the park was busy as well this Sunday, as the NeighbourFood Market was taking place. I quite like the hippie-country feel of these kind of events and I can tolerate for some time the smoke coming from the grills and the noise of the happy crowd – if the food is good. 🙂
