It has been fun cooking in quite a few “languages” for this Christmas in Amsterdam.
On the Romanian speaking side, the salad we call “boeuf” even when it contains no meat (as in this case) and the cake we call “chec”.
On the British side, the Yorkshire pudding with mandarin chicken, roasted vegetables, cranberry sauce, stuffing and gravy.
No idea what language the lemon curd tart I have prepared speaks, but I had to do it as I was dreaming about it for too long!
I must say the German home made Glühwein helped a lot, too!
Preparations might have taken three-four hours on each of the two days before Christmas, but it didn`t take too long to devour them for the Christmas dinner.
We definitely missed the snow, but it has been a nice Christmas after all and Santa made sure we get the things we like and need. 🙂
